Summer is over which made me realized how time flew so fast! Fall is here and winter will eventually drop by then another new year will come in. Because I had a wonderful summer with my grandchildren this year, I decided to share with the world some of our summer selfies.  I never tire of spending time and making happy memories.

The kids insisted that we had to look goofy and as you can see, that did not seem to be a problem!  Its always fun to see the faces they come up with – even the little one had a ton of funny faces to make.

Being a parent and especially a grandparent is a beautiful, unique and a gratifying experience. It creates a sense of self-fulfilment especially if we are lucky enough to pass down great values and beliefs to our grandchildren. It grants us a certain warmth that translates to a smile whenever we see our little ones happy and embracing all life has to offer.

Grandparents’ day is coming in a few days. This is a good opportunity for us grandpas and grandmas to further develop a good relationship with our grandkids. For nanas like me, how do we become the ‘cool’ grandparent that they want to be with or remember? Here’s some advices on how we oldies can happily bond with our grandchildren.

Back to School Lunches: High-five for the Kids!

The 1st of September, known in US as Labor Day, also raises the curtain on a new school year.  Almost all children are excited in the prospect of meeting new classmates, catching up with their old buddies and playmates, and meeting their new teachers.

A child is required to attend classes a certain number of hours every school day. They are also expected to stay attentive and focused in order to learn. They will deal with lectures, exams, interactions and extra-curricular activities the entire day. With an energy-draining schedule like this, a child regardless of their vitality and high energy levels, could experience fatigue if they’re not eating healthy and getting enough sleep the night before.

Baby Boomer Grandparents enjoyed playing with classic and vintage toys in their childhood ; some of these toys were wood-carved, some were made from new “space age”  materials. Reminiscing about the toys that were once loved by many and seeing how they change through the decades makes us nostalgic.  This is especially true of the baby boomer generation.

The boomers make up a great number of the population and they are willing and able to spend money on purchasing toys for their grandsons and daughters. The act of giving gifts is their way of bringing back good old memories.  This helps them to feel young and to create a new unforgettable memory when playing with their precious little ones.

98 yr old Computer Painter

98 Yr Old continues to paint using computer

Hal Lasko, better known as Grandpa, worked as a graphic artist back when everything was done by hand. His family introduced him to the computer and Microsoft Paint long after he retired. Now he paints with his computer.

Known as the pixel painter, Hal’s work is incredibly detailed even though he basically blind.  The computer allows him to magnify and focus on certain areas and you can actually see the actual pixels.  According to his family he can’t stop talking about his art.  Now he can paint what he wants vs what his clients want.

Don’t you love that technology can open new avenues even as one door closes….
